The book I read was "Lord of the ring The two towers". Frodo and Sam(who are hobbits) who are always in danger with the ring of power which temps him to put it on. Merry and Pippin the twins trying to escape the orcs and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli trying to pursue them to save them. When merry and pippin get away from the the orcs they run into the Fangorn forest where the trees are alive they meet this tree named Treebeard who is one of the Ents. They seek help from the Ents which leads to the downfall of Sauruman the head of the istari. When Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli go into the forest to fing the twins they come across a failiar face Gandalf. Which later he rides to saumans tower. Where soroman tries and seeks his allegiance which inturn gandalf breaks his staff and denounces him from the council of wizards. As Frodo and sam are bearing closer to mordor they encounter Gollum who once bore the ring. Gollum takes them to the main gates of mordor but they can not enter so Gollum tells them there is another way which is much longer. This leads them to a staircase where they encounter this giant spider which attacks Fordo. When Sam finds him he is no longer breathing and he assumes he is dead so he takes the ring and later he overhears a couple of Orcs where he learns that the spiders venom only make it look like you are dead.
Why It Was Placed on the List
I thought this book was placed on the outstanding books list because it had an intense read with lots of suspense. The fight scenes were excellent with lts of detail explaining every detail throught the battle. Another reason why i thought it was placed on the list was because the reading level was up in the range where it wasn't impossible but it was a challenge to read.
Why I Would Recommend It
I would strongly reccomend this book to anyone who likes the movie and likes to read. It is a great read and if you have seen the movie the book is much different so don't stray away. I really loved the book and i'm sure you will to.
